QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Seasons change, and so do we.”
-Nikkiche
IDEA OF THE DAY
As a child, I grew up on the east coast, in a small town next to the Hudson River. One thing I remember vividly is the transition from one season to another. From chasing fireflies in the summer evenings to raking huge piles of falling leaves in the Autumn. Then waking up one morning to a winter wonderland, and instantly leaping out of bed to turn on the radio and hear if school was canceled for the day. Eventually, spring’s blossoms would pop through the icy ground, and the sun would welcome the warmth of another seasonal shift. It was easy to recognize each season and naturally adapt to each cycle.
These days where I live, the seasonal transitions are not as apparent. Currently, I toggle between California and Washington, one area boasting 300 days of sunshine a year, while the other likes to hide the sun behind clouds for those same 300 days (ugh!). Over the weekend, this year’s autumn equinox gently reminded me of its presence by way of a lantern festival I happened to pass by.
Sometimes the seasonal changes are obvious, while other times, not so much. The same can be said for growth and changes that you are going through. Sometimes you’ll make huge leaps and bounds in a very short period. But more often than not, personal growth is subtle and likes to take a winding road. It may be hard to notice while you’re in it. But taking a moment to pause and look back at the seasons you’ve experienced through this year alone will show that you indeed, have grown.
Today’s invitation is to look back at your year so far and reflect on your seasons of change. How have you grown? What has been challenging? What’s been going well? How would you like to wrap this year up? Any of these questions can be an entry point- it’s up to you!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
The person you are today is different than the person you were in January. What are the biggest differences between who you were and who you are today?
