QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.”
– Søren Kierkegaard

IDEA OF THE DAY

One of the most incredible things about living in the present is that whenever curiosity strikes, we have a world of information at our fingertips. Take today, for example! As I sat down to write this newsletter, I wondered what notable events had occurred on this day in history. Twenty years ago, finding the answer would have meant sifting through old encyclopedias and newspapers. Today, all it takes is a quick search on my phone.

So, what did happen on this day in years past?
I’m so glad you asked! Here are a few intriguing moments in history:

  • 1735 – The first opera is performed in the American Colonies.
  • 1791 – Vermont becomes an official state of the Union.
  • 1885  The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is published.
  • 1911 – The first official airmail flight takes place in India.
  • 1930 – Pluto is discovered as a planet (before its demotion).
  • 1954 – John Travolta is born.
  • 1978 – The first Ironman Triathlon is held in Kona, Hawaii.
  • 2017 – Joyna picks up a book that sets her on the path to becoming a career coach.

At first glance, these events may seem random, but there’s a reason I bring them up.

For every major milestone in history, there are countless everyday moments—people learning, growing, making mistakes, and finding their way. Life moves in an ebb and flow, and in the midst of ordinary days, extraordinary events unfold—shaping our world and our humanity.

When life feels overwhelming, take a step back, reflect on how far you’ve come, and remember that whatever you’re facing—it will pass. New experiences will come, life will continue. What feels uncertain now may become clear in time. The challenges you face today are often the hidden stepping stones to growth. And there may be a day in the future where all of this will make perfect sense. Until then, enjoy the little moments that bring you a daily dose of peace and calm. (And enjoy sharing some of these historical tidbits!)
