QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.”
Tony Robbins

IDEA OF THE DAY

This week’s quote is a bit of an umbrella for so many smaller raindrops of insight (see what I did there?!?!). But as I look at challenges in the world today, large and small, as well as the challenges I face in my own life, a majority of it boils down to being too attached to a particular way of thinking, which often leads to a breakdown in communication.

I don’t think anyone is born with the talent of perfect communication. It’s something we have to work at. And part of getting better at communicating with others is recognizing where our own limitations are at. Some of it may have to do with what we tell ourselves (the inner dialogue) and other aspects may be with how to communicate with someone when we feel triggered, upset, or unable to process thoughts in the moment.

So, I ask that you take a moment and reflect on where your communication could use some support. Is it in how you treat yourself? Is it that you could learn ways to listen and have others feel heard? Is it about speaking up when something bothers you? If you are not sure, is there a trusted friend you could ask feedback from? I’m not asking for you to judge yourself, but rather to acknowledge where growth is possible. We’re on a lifelong journey of becoming better communicators, and the more we can do for ourselves, the more it will benefit others.

We got this!
