QUOTE OF THE DAY
“I’m not sure I’ve ever opened a social media app and then after logging off thought, ‘Wow, I’m so glad I did that.’
Conversely, I have never taken a walk in nature without thinking, after, ‘I am so glad I did that.’ ”
Ryan Holiday, Blogger of Meditations on Strategy & Life
IDEA OF THE DAY
When was the last time you had a chance to take a walk through a grove of redwood trees? Or a magical forest? Or a place in nature that brings you a sense of ease and comfort?
Well, it’s been a few days…or weeks, to be honest Joyna….
When was the last time you checked your social media?
Ummm…about 5 minutes ago *wince*
I get it. We don’t always have an ease of time and access to go and get lost on a long walk in the woods. Yet imagine if the amount of time we spent on our phones was replaced by time in nature…we would have quite a different daily experience, wouldn’t we?
If finding more balance between technology and being present in your life is something you’re working on, consider small actions to support your ability to be in nature. This could mean that the next time you reach for your phone, you could stop and grab a glass of water and head outside for a sunshine break. Or if you tend to scroll while eating, instead opt for savoring the sunset with your meal. Feeling kinda frazzled? Grab a cozy chair and sit outside for a few minutes, just gazing up at the trees and sky. Want to cut down on screen time in general? Create a rule that one minute of nature time offers one minute of screen time…and see how much nature you can fit in! No matter where you start, start small, and see what sticks.
Onward we stroll!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
When you go for a walk, what helps create a sense of ease for you?
(Some of the things for me are hearing the wind in the trees, the birds, chirping, smelling the summer air, feeling the warmth of the sun…yum!)
