QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”
Anne Lamott

IDEA OF THE DAY

What was your summer like as a kid? I remember being so carefree, running around outside all day with my siblings and friends, building fairy houses, squealing as my brothers would catch frogs in a nearby creek, and laying in the grass with my sister watching the clouds float by. What bliss!

And then…I became an adult. And somehow, things changed. I got stuck on the computer more often. I found that my to-do list was never ending. And with trying to juggle so many things, I would turn to my phone for some downtime and relaxation, rather than be outside and soak up nature.

The thing is, utilizing my phone as an outlet didn’t relax me in the ways that nature and being outdoors could. Do you find that happening for you sometimes as well?

For today, I’d like to encourage you to think about what genuine unplugging looks like for you. We all need moments to take a break and recharge. But rather than unconsciously reaching for the phone, what are other ways that you can embrace a moment of solitude (time JUST for you)?  It could be drinking some water while standing outside for a few minutes, journaling about how you’re currently feeling, or looking up at the sky, searching for those cloud shapes we used to see as children. Tap into your inner child and bring some of that energy into your summer days- you can do it!
