IDEA OF THE DAY
A few weeks ago when I was in Vancouver, I had some spare time to explore. One of my go-to activities in exploring any new place is teashops and more importantly, bookstores! I love being able to visit and support local shops. The smell of books old and new, the titles just waiting to be read, and the excitement in knowing I just might leave with a book in hand…what more could one ask for?!?
This time around, I stumbled upon some beautiful affirmation cards created by the company Intelligent Change, written in English, French and German. The idea sparked that getting the German set would be a great Mother’s Day gift for mother (who is German). Sure enough, my mother has been enjoying pulling a card with her morning cup of tea, and in the process I’ve been brushing up on my German!
The cards had me thinking about how to best utilize affirmations. Sometimes we may see an affirmation and have the urge to roll our eyes. And that’s a clue that perhaps that affirmation may not be for you! To make a statement powerful, it has to be something that resonates with you, meaning you think AND feel good about it.
Just for fun, take a look at this list of affirmations, and notice which ones (if any) spark a sense of emotion in you. Those are the ones that hold magic and perhaps may be areas where you are most in need of a little support and encouragement. Take a few elements and bundle them together to make your own unique affirmation. Then write it out and place it somewhere that you can see daily. Over time, you’ll notice that it becomes more ingrained in your way of thinking, leading to healthier thoughts and habits.
