QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Don’t just do something, sit there.”
 — Sylvia Boorstein

IDEA OF THE DAY

How often have we been pushed to go, go, go, checking things off the list, rushing to accomplish just one more task before collapsing into bed? Trying to save the world and make a ten-course meal at the same time! (Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but you get the point.)

As winter arrives, nature begins to slow down and settle into rest. Yet somehow, we tend to do the opposite; pushing ahead with last-minute shopping, wrapping up projects, and filling our days to the brim. I know we’re only a few days into December, but I wanted to share this reminder early, so we can be intentional about how we shape the last month of 2025.

Yes, there will always be things to do, but there’s also an invitation to pause. To sit for a moment, relax, reflect, and simply breathe. Even if you only gift yourself a minute or two, consider it an invitation to join the December Sitting Challenge: five quiet minutes each day, just for you.

And if you’re open to a deeper reflection, explore a beautiful journaling exercise called The Year Compass—a guided way to close out the year and welcome the new one with clarity and intention.

So as I sit and pause for a few minutes, I invite you to join me. The being nourishes the part of you that is always doing. And as nature shows us how effortlessly it simply is, perhaps we can give ourselves permission to do the same.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Close your eyes and scan your body. Notice where you are holding tension or stiffness. Breathe deeply and slow down. What is your body asking to do and what does it need right now?
