QUOTE OF THE DAY
“There are a million different reasons why we hit dead ends. But what your brain will do is start making it mean a bunch of things. Don’t make it mean a bunch of things about you. Dead ends are part of the process.”
— Erin Foley
IDEA OF THE DAY
Applied for a job and never heard back… dead end.
Tried online dating again, but it led nowhere… dead end.
Wanted to make an incredible dinner but burned everything in the process… dead end.
If you think about it, we hit so many dead ends in our daily lives. Some barely faze us. We shake them off and move on. But others? They leave us feeling pretty low.
Take job applications, for example. A rejection never feels great. But if you reframe it—reminding yourself that each “no” brings you closer to your ideal “yes”—it becomes a little easier to keep trying. Over time, each rejection stings less, and you start to see it for what it is: part of the process, not a reflection of your worth.
Here’s the invitation I’ll leave you with today:
When you hit a dead end that doesn’t feel great, notice your reaction.
Do you brush it off and say, “Oh well, onto the next adventure”?
Do you sit in the disappointment, feeling like a failure?
Or are you somewhere in between—both judging and cheering yourself on?
Whatever your answer, it’s okay. Awareness is the first step. Once you see where you are, you can decide what comes next.
Here’s something you might try: take a short walk without your phone. Let your mind wander. Notice where your thoughts go when you’re not pushing for direction. Sometimes clarity shows up in stillness, not in striving.
And if you’re sitting in a dead end right now, acknowledge it. Accept it. Then, when you’re ready, turn around. The road you’re meant to be on might be just a few steps back the other way.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Think of a recent “dead end” you’ve hit.
What might it be redirecting you toward instead?
