QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Sometimes detours lead to the most beautiful destinations. Embrace the unexpected, and your goals will too.”

IDEA OF THE DAY

It’s National Pie Day today, no matter how you slice it! (ooh Joyna, starting with the puns so early today, eh?)

We’re in the month of goals, resolutions, intentions, and growth, however you like to name it! And for some, it’s been a breeze to stick to the plan, while others, it’s been a work in progress. Today, I’m giving us all permission to let go of the drive to reach our goals…and simply enjoy a piece of pie.

(Really, Joyna?)

Yes Indeed! We are coming back to the pie reference- and for a good reason.

Think of all your goals as a slice of pie. Whether it is to become more physically active, have a change in your career, spend less time on your screen, or _____________(insert personal goal here). Often times, we can get fixated on just one slice.

When new clients are on a call with me, what surfaces in the conversation is one or two main issues to be explored…small pieces of the whole puzzle.  In our first session together, we take a look at the whole pie; all the different areas of life that could be nurtured and supported. We create goals not just in the challenging areas, but in ALL areas.

Why?

Because of the detours. By looking at the whole pie, we’ve created multiple doorways to taking action, be it in taking up a new hobby, creating a new bedtime routine, or drinking more water. No matter how small the goal, each part is worth nourishing. And no matter which detour you take, it ripples into other aspects of your life, transforming goals along the way. So as you enjoy today’s metaphorical (or real) slice of pie, take a moment to zoom out and look at the whole picture.

QUESTION OF THE DAY
