QUOTE OF THE DAY

“You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don’t know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don’t need to justify that, or earn it. You are allowed to just live.”
― Becky Chambers, A Psalm for the Wild-Built

IDEA OF THE DAY

We have one of those special quotes today; a quote that asks you to read it multiple times to absorb the meaning and truth of it. I’ve been sitting here, reading it over and over again, sensing into the richness of it, and figuring out where to go from here.

I’ve been writing my coaching newsletter for five years, and no matter what the subject, a majority of them focus on how to handle stress, learn simple strategies to navigate challenges, and how to improve the inner mental space we call our own reality. Often times what I write is a reminder for me just as much as it is for you. Life can be challenging. It has its ups and downs. Many times, it can feel hard to navigate because of the pressure others put on us, and especially the pressure we put on ourselves to perform, succeed, grow, appear in a certain way…the list goes on! So let’s take a break today and give ourselves a loving self-care pause together.

Ready? It’ll only take a minute!

Today’s request is a simple one. Read the quote a few times, (perhaps change “you” to “I) and notice where you may feel some emotion, whether it’s a sense of joy or sadness or anything in between. Just notice with curiosity what comes up.  When you get to the last line, repeat if back to yourself a few times and breathe deeply into it. If there is any particular part of the quote that resonates with you, just sit with it for a moment before heading back into your day. It can be such a nourishing reminder to know that you and I, existing here and now, is enough and perfect just as it is.
