QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live.”
― Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter

IDEA OF THE DAY

Oh Dumbledore, if only we could always have such wise and wonderful wizards like you in our back pocket!

I suppose I’m in a silly mood this week (it helps with Halloween being one of my favorite holidays). However, I appreciate how this quote is yet another reminder to stay present in the moment. Something I feel we often aspire for but have a hard time achieving on a consistent basis.

We meditate and do yoga, read self-help books, study philosophy, pray for guidance, and reach out for support from therapists and coaches…we search in so many ways to reduce stress and increase happiness in our lives. You could say it’s all a big chaotic game of Quidditch. And regardless of the mode in which we practice self-care, the messaging often boils down to the same core messages.

Focus on being in the now. Stay present. Let go of the past. Release fear of the future. Be grateful for today.

It’s all about being present. (Or, in continuing the Potter references, it’s about concentrating on finding the ever-evasive Snitch).

So as you navigate this week, how about we join houses and make it a daily intention to focus on being present? Every moment gives us a fresh start to do so. Let’s take Dumbledore’s wisdom to heart and bring a little magic to our day!
