QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Let what wants to come, come.
Let what wants to go, go.
If it is mine, it will stay.
If not, whatever is better will replace it.”
Tosha Silver

IDEA OF THE DAY

Today, I wanted to share a simple technique that I’ve found to be really useful in times where you have a lot going on, feel stressed out, and just may have too much on your plate. I learned of it from Tosha Silver, a funny and witty author who looks at fear and stress from an energetic perspective.

We all have these moments in life where changes big and small happen- and in hindsight, we can see that they were moments of growth and learning. Yet when we are in the middle of it, it can be challenging to see things that way.  The idea I want to share today is around being part of something much bigger than just yourself. You can call it the universe, God, source, energy, the bigger picture…whatever makes sense for you. In these moments where you feel super stressed out, imagine that you have a beautiful platter in your hands, and that anything you are worried about, you can place on this platter.

You can say an affirmation along the lines of “Just for today, I surrender” or “Universe, clearly I don’t have all the answers! In your infinite wisdom, please handle this problem for me (or give some insight into what I should do next).”

And as you say this statement to yourself, imagine lifting this platter up to the Universe, letting go of the need to figure things out right now. The goal here is not to avoid hard decisions but to have a tool to get you out of a spiral of thinking. When we are caught in the stress web of our thoughts, our solution-finding capacity is at an all-time low. The first step is to get into a different headspace- one that is more resourceful. So if that means surrendering the thoughts and letting go of control, we begin to release the hold that these worried thoughts have upon us. And of course, asking for the wisdom of a bigger energy to help out couldn’t hurt!

So the next time you feel like your thoughts are spinning, that it’s hard to concentrate on being present, or you just don’t have a much-needed answer, give this technique a try!

QUESTION OF THE DAY
