QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Life is full of awe and grace and truth, mystery and wonder. I live in that atmosphere.”
-Dion DiMucci
IDEA OF THE DAY
How often do you find yourself living in a state of awe, mystery, and wonder?
It’s so easy to slip into the rhythm of daily routines. There’s nothing wrong with that; structure can be comforting, but when we’re on autopilot, it can be harder to stay fully “awake” to what we’re doing and where we are.
Sometimes the motions of daily life are so ingrained that you might be driving somewhere and suddenly realize you don’t even remember the trip from point A to point B. The time just… vanished.
That’s when a shake-up or a new experience can be powerful.
This past weekend, my partner and I ventured to Mt. Rainier, an active volcano, for some hiking and exploring. As we drove closer, my “awe sensors” switched on. My awareness came fully alive. On the trail, I noticed every wildflower, the grandeur of the mountain, and the crisp air filling my lungs as we steadily climbed. I spotted plenty of chipmunks, but also creatures I’d never seen before, like marmots and wild mountain goats.
Being surrounded by that breathtaking landscape filled me with awe. It was invigorating, and I started my week feeling refreshed and inspired.
Your awe might not come from hiking; it could be discovering a new restaurant, exploring a quaint town, or wandering through a farmers’ market. Whatever it is, maybe it’s time to step away from autopilot and invite in a moment of wonder. Let’s get those “awe sensors” activated!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
If I could sprinkle “awe dust” on my week, where would I sprinkle it first?
