QUOTE OF THE DAY
“The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same.”
–Colin R. Davis
IDEA OF THE DAY
Last week I had the chance to see a musical with some friends. Specifically, IKEA: The Musical.
This small production told the story of IKEA’s founder, Ingvar Kamprad, and the many feats and failures he faced while building what eventually became an $8 billion company. Fun fact: IKEA actually began as a mail-order catalog before opening its first store.
Though the show was comical and full of dancing furniture, what struck me most was how true it rang. Through all the growth, mistakes, and setbacks, Ingvar kept coming back to the drawing board. He believed in what he was building, and that persistence kept him moving forward despite things looking dire, or people not supporting his next move.
Now, maybe you don’t have an $8 billion empire (yet), but I know you’ve had your share of beautiful wins and devastating setbacks. And still, you’re here, standing strong and learning as you go. That’s something to be proud of. And if it’s been awhile since anyone has shared how proud they are of you showing up and making moves, I’m here to let you know that I’m proud of you.
You’re doing the best you can, and when life gets rough, remember: this too shall pass.
QUESTION OF THE DAY
What small wins am I overlooking because I’m focused on the “big picture” success?
