QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The best way to predict the future is to create it. Or win the lottery”
-Unknown

IDEA OF THE DAY

So, in case you missed it, last week the lottery jackpot climbed all the way up to $1.8 billion. That’s a lot of buckaroos! And even though I’d never bought a lottery ticket before, I got caught up in the excitement (never mind that the odds were completely against me).

I bought a few tickets and started daydreaming about all the ways I’d use my winnings to make the world a little brighter, help my family and friends, and travel the globe.

In my mind, I had it all mapped out; I’d pay off my loved ones’ debts so they could finally relax about money. I’d set up college funds for all my nieces and nephews. I’d buy my mom a castle in Germany. And I’d work with a philanthropic advisor to find the best ways to support education for young women in need.

This daydream carried me through a whole hour of painting. By the time I was done visualizing, I felt so uplifted and excited—it was like I had already won the jackpot.

Saturday arrives, and I check the winning numbers. I win the jackpot…of $4. A bit short for the lofty goals I had in mind. However, even though I didn’t win the lottery this time around, I walked away with something better: the reminder that my life is already rich and fulfilling, and that letting myself dream big only deepens my gratitude for what I already have.

You don’t need a lottery ticket to imagine the magic in your life. But if dreaming of a big win helps you tap into joy and possibility, why not? I had so much fun with it—and I bet you will too.

Happy dreaming!

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What parts of my current life already feel rich and fulfilling—without a single lottery ticket?
