QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I think of the trees and how simply they let go, let fall the riches of a season, how without grief (it seems) they can let go and go deep into their roots for renewal and sleep … Imitate the trees. Learn to lose in order to recover, and remember that nothing stays the same for long, not even pain.”
— May Sarton

IDEA OF THE DAY

We’re in the magical week of the Autumn Equinox—the days are getting shorter, the nights a little longer, and there’s more space for rest and reflection. Of all the seasons, I think Fall has the clearest message. The trees show us how beautiful it can be to let go, reminding us that release is a natural part of life. It’s also an invitation to slow down and turn inward for a while.

And since we’re already talking about trees (yay!), here’s a little seasonal wisdom they’re offering right now. As Autumn arrives, trees pull the green pigment back from their leaves, storing that energy to carry them through winter. With the green fading, the hidden reds, oranges, and yellows finally get their chance to shine. The richer reds and purples come from extra sugars the tree produces as it prepares for hibernation. Meanwhile, a thin layer of cells forms at the base of each leaf, gently loosening the bond until the leaf naturally drifts away.

Here’s what I take from that:

-Fall isn’t just about letting go—it’s about holding onto what nourishes you.
-Eating a little extra sugar in the winter? Nature totally approves.
-When a connection, whether to a thought, habit, or chapter of life, loosens, it’s okay to let it go.
-Slowing down with the season is a natural part of who we are.
-Being a tree seems pretty darn amazing.

Just a few of my musings as we step into autumn. What messages are the trees whispering to you these days? I’d love to hear.
