QUOTE OF THE DAY
“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.”
— Seth Godin
IDEA OF THE DAY
As October rolls in, the air gets crisp, the pumpkins appear, and we’re surrounded by stories of things that go bump in the night. But beyond the Halloween fun lies a powerful truth, our careers can sometimes feel just as haunted.
Whether it’s fear of failure, imposter syndrome, or uncertainty about the next step, these “ghosts” often linger in the corners of our professional lives. Today, let’s face a few of them together.
Fear Isn’t the Enemy — It’s the Flashlight
When you feel scared to make a change, apply for that dream role, or finally say “I’m ready for more,” your fear is just a little spotlight saying, “Hey, this matters.”
Ask yourself:
What am I afraid of losing…and what might I gain if I stop letting fear drive?
Is this fear protecting me, or just keeping me stuck?
Sometimes the thing you’re most afraid of is the exact thing that’ll set you free.
Take Off the Professional Mask
Halloween is all about pretending to be someone else, but in our careers, we often do this every day. Maybe we downplay our ideas in meetings, stay silent to avoid conflict, or present a polished version of ourselves that hides uncertainty.
This month, try unmasking one part of your professional identity:
“Where am I pretending to be confident instead of practicing authenticity?”
Authentic leadership doesn’t mean having all the answers. It means showing up as yourself, ready to learn, lead, and grow.
Shine Light on Your Shadows
The aspects of your career you avoid, the “shadows”, are often where your greatest lessons lie. Maybe it’s a pattern of overworking, people-pleasing, or avoiding visibility. Instead of ignoring these shadows, explore them.
Growth happens when you turn the light on and ask, “What is this trying to teach me?”

Happy Halloween!
