QUOTE OF THE DAY
“You do not have to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment.”
— Thomas Merton
IDEA OF THE DAY
Last week was all about the joy of ritual and finding meaningful ways to transition from one year to the next. One of my favorite ways to do this is by pulling an oracle card to capture the energy of the year ahead.
Never heard of oracle cards? They’re similar to tarot cards, but without the need to memorize specific meanings. Oracle cards invite you to tap into your intuition and interpret the message in your own way.
The deck I love using for my New Year’s ritual is The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck. Its artwork is stunning, and each animal’s description offers gentle guidance on how to embody its symbolic energy throughout the year.
For 2026, I pulled the Buffalo card, welcoming the energy of being grounded yet reaching for the heavens; of staying spiritual and practical as I navigate life. From my intuitive lens, this year will be an adventure, full of both challenges and opportunities. Traveling the US for the year is thrilling, but it’s already come with a few bumps: we overpacked (oops), I got sick, and we’re still learning how to settle into a rhythm in spaces that aren’t quite ours… and never for long.
Yet when I pulled this card, a calmness washed over me, a reminder that this is what life is all about. The joy of it, the stress of it, and the art of staying grounded through it all.
If you’re curious about oracle cards and what energy might be guiding your year ahead, I’d love to pull a card for you. Just reply with “pull my card!” and I’ll send your description your way, you can interpret it however you like.
Wishing you a wonderful start to the year…bumps, bumbles, bright moments, and all!
