Many people think they need more confidence, certainty, or motivation before taking action. But often, clarity only comes after we begin moving….
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“Start before you’re ready.”
— Steven Pressfield
IDEA OF THE DAY
We’re in a new month! And with new month energy, it can feel like you need a fresh plan…
or a clearer direction…
or to finally get it right.
But what if this month wasn’t about getting it right?
What if it was just about getting willing?
Because you can have a good plan… and still not move.
Not because you’re stuck, just because you’re waiting to feel ready.
(A show of hands for who’s been here before… as I boldly raise my own hand!)
And readiness? It tends to keep moving.
Willingness is much simpler.
“I’m not totally sure… but I’m willing to try.”
“This might feel uncomfortable… but I can take one step.”
That small shift is often what gets things moving.
Two simple ways to spark willingness:
1. Make the step smaller than your brain expects
If your brain is like,
“Ugh, we have to redo the whole resume / figure out our life / have a BIG conversation…”
Try this instead:
“What’s a 10-minute version of this?”
Open the document.
Write one sentence.
Send one message.
Willingness grows when the step feels doable.
2. Add a little curiosity to the mix
Instead of:
“What if this doesn’t work?”
Try:
“I wonder what will happen if I try this?”
Same situation.
Very different energy.
Curiosity takes the pressure off needing it to go perfectly…
and makes it easier to actually begin.
This month doesn’t need to be the month you figure everything out.
It could just be the month you practice being a little more willing.
If you know your next step but you’re not taking it yet,
this is exactly the kind of shift we work on together.
With that said, you don’t need a full green light…
a soft “sure, why not” will do.
A Question to Reflect On
Where am I overthinking instead of experimenting?
